🐑 A busy and exciting time on the farm!
We recently shorn our ewes and then pregnancy scanned them to find out which ones are carrying a single lamb, twins (or more!), and which ones are empty.
Pregnancy scanning is an important management tool, allowing us to tailor the care each ewe receives. Those carrying multiple lambs need extra feed, so knowing which ewes require the best tucker helps us look after both the ewe and her lambs.
After a kind growing season with plenty of quality pasture, we're thrilled to see our scanning results continue to trend upwards. 🌱
These are the moments we love sharing with our guests, giving them a genuine insight into life on a working New Zealand sheep and beef farm.

Community projects like this don't happen without people coming together, and the new Network Waitaki Events Centre is something our whole region can be proud of.

Since opening in May, it's already become a fantastic place for sport and community events. One of our kids play there now, and hopefully future generations of our family will too. That's why we felt honoured to contribute to this amazing project alongside Greg's parents.

The atmosphere inside the centre is incredible, and it's wonderful to see what can be achieved when a community works together.

🤍 Meet the family behind Little Red School House 🤍

We're Greg, Nic, Gracie and Sam – the family behind Little Red School House, Golden Gully Farm Tours, and our working sheep and beef farm in the beautiful North Otago hills. Missing from this photo is our eldest son, Bailey, who has now left home and is off creating his own adventures.

Farming isn't just what we do – it's our way of life. Every day is different, and that's exactly what makes sharing it with others so special.

One of the greatest joys for us is welcoming visitors from around New Zealand, our local community, and overseas, and watching them slow down, breathe a little deeper, and simply enjoy being surrounded by nature. Seeing children (and plenty of adults!) connect with our friendly farm animals is always a highlight. The pets love the attention just as much as they love the extra treats they receive!

Our farm tours are completely authentic. Rather than following a script, we share whatever is happening on the farm that day, giving guests a genuine glimpse into life on a real working sheep and beef farm.

Because farming never really stops, neither do we. Our accommodation and farm tours operate all year round, with every season offering something different to experience.

Whether you're staying a night, joining us on a farm tour, or simply following along here, thank you for being part of our journey. We feel incredibly fortunate to call this place home and love sharing our little slice of paradise with others. ❤️

✨ Mānawatia a Matariki ✨

Matariki marks the Māori New Year and the rising of the Matariki star cluster in our winter sky. It is a time to remember those who have passed, celebrate with whānau and friends, and look forward to the year ahead.

Here at the Little Red School House, Matariki is a reminder to slow down, appreciate our beautiful surroundings, and be grateful for the people and experiences that enrich our lives.
