Toe-paw is such a great way to remember how to pronounce Taupō.

A good time for a little reminder on how to pronounce Taupō correctly.

An easy way to remember it is “toe-paw”.

The Tau sounds like “toe”, and the macron over the ō tells you to hold that vowel sound a little longer.

Orakei Korako Cave & Thermal Park is definitely worth a visit. Make it a day trip and pack a picnic, the scenery is beautiful. Highly recommended.

Fun fact: Ōrākei Kōrako has been welcoming visitors to this valley since 1931, nearly a century of steam, silica, and stories.

Some things are worth the trip, decade after decade.
