We are really happy to be hosting Wānaka’s inaugural Backyard Ultra in February. Amy & Callum look set to create something very special so we’ve dropped some cash into the prize pool. This event starts at the end of summer 27th of February on the Wao side of camp which will be closed for the event from Friday 26th though to March 2nd (at the very least!) - Pātiki side of camp remains open at this time for our usual guests. It looks like some adventurous people are set to have some serious FRUN. Everyone is invited to spectate & experience the atmosphere that Backyard Ultra brings. Dismal fact: This proposed mine above the Clutha River, the Mata-Au - is just a little over 34km as the crow flies from the head of the Mata-Au where Outlet Camp is situated. - A good Southerly could blow particulate matter towards us. We’re upstream. 22, 000 residents are not. There are numerous health & ecological risks this proposed mine threatens us all with. Please follow Sustainable Tarras for qualified information.
