The strawberry poison frog (Oophaga pumilio) is one of the most iconic amphibians in Bocas del Toro, known for its extraordinary variety of colors. But its beauty is only part of what makes this species special.
Its life cycle is closely linked to the humidity and vegetation of the tropical forest.
Protecting the forests where it lives means conserving not only this colorful frog but also the complex natural relationships that make life possible in these ecosystems.

📸🌿 A closer look at wildlife
This time, we had the pleasure of welcoming a group from Tropical Herping to Tranquilo Bay for an experience focused especially on wildlife photography and macro photography.
During their stay, every excursion was an opportunity to take a closer look at the small details that make tropical biodiversity so special: species, textures, colors, and moments.
An experience to explore nature from a different perspective, with the camera as a tool to discover and document the incredible diversity that surrounds us.

This is digiscoping: combining a high-quality telescope with a smartphone to capture images of wildlife.
Thanks to Kowa’s extraordinary optics and its excellent light-gathering ability and detail reproduction, it’s possible to achieve images with surprising sharpness and definition, allowing us to get up close to wildlife and preserve those moments in a unique way. 💚

🌊 Waves in the ground - https://mailchi.mp/tranquilobay.com/octoberearthquake I think about this as one idea. BUILT FOR PLACE: to build with what a place has already shown you it can do. Bocas shakes a little all the time. Small tremors are part of life here, and we built our property and our buildings to handle them. Our buildings are post and beam, so they can move as needed. Our towers are guy-wired to keep them steady. October 9 was the biggest test we have seen. Everything held.
