There are places you visit… and then there are places you *feel*. 🤎

Walker Inn is one of those places.

Built around 1840, this old house has welcomed travelers since the 1800s. It has witnessed more history than our minds can truly comprehend, and somehow, after nearly two centuries, there is still a peacefulness that fills every room.

Maybe it’s sitting around the wood stove in the Lounge, listening to the crackle of the fire and imagining all the travelers who gathered there long ago. What makes that space even more special is that where the wood stove now sits was once the original kitchen, added by William and Margaret Walker before the Civil War. It was built separately from the original house to serve the travelers making their way along the stagecoach trail, eventually becoming part of the home we know today.

Or maybe it’s sitting beside the fireplace in the Parlor. The Parlor is part of the **original log cabin portion of Walker Inn, built around 1840**. Imagine the stories those original logs could tell if they could speak—of the people who lived here, the travelers who passed through, and the generations who gathered around that very fireplace.

And then there is the Stagecoach Room, where weary travelers once rested after making the journey from Franklin along the stagecoach trail. After hours of riding through the mountains, they would arrive at Walker Inn looking for a warm meal, a comfortable bed, and a place to rest before continuing their journey. Today, our guests can sleep in that same historic space—a quiet reminder that hospitality has been at the heart of this home for nearly two centuries.

Maybe it’s walking the historic stagecoach trail and wondering about the people who traveled that same path so many years ago. Or sleeping in the room that once served as the Valleytown Post Office, knowing that letters, news, and pieces of people’s lives once passed through that very space.

It might be sipping coffee on the upstairs porch swing while cool mountain breezes roll through… listening to the rain fall softly on the tin roof of the cabin… or simply watching the cats play in the yard as the sun slips behind the mountains. 🌄☕🐈

It’s all of these little moments that make Walker Inn special.

This place has stood through generations, changing times, wars, celebrations, heartbreaks, and countless stories that we will never know. Yet it still stands here—welcoming travelers, just as it did in the 1800s.

We feel incredibly blessed to be the caretakers of this special place and to have the opportunity to share it with our guests, our community, our friends, and our family.

To honor its past.
To preserve its stories.
To care for its old walls and beautiful grounds.
And most of all, to keep the spirit of hospitality alive for those who walk through its doors.

There is something truly special about Walker Inn.

Nearly two centuries of history live within these walls—and we are so grateful to be able to share a little piece of that history with you. 🤎🍂

This morning’s scene: a quiet kitchen, the smell of homemade pumpkin scones baking, and a warm cup of pumpkin spice coffee waiting by the window. Add in the charm of an 1840s inn, the mountains outside, and a little crisp-weather wishful thinking… and it feels like a Hallmark movie moment. 🤎

There’s something extra special about being able to walk in the footsteps of history. ❤️

We’re excited to announce that we’re opening up a portion of the **original stagecoach trail at Walker Inn** for our guests to explore! 🌿

Nearly two centuries ago, travelers made their way along this trail as they journeyed through the mountains, and William and Margaret Walker welcomed many of those travelers into their home and inn.

Now, our guests can step back in time and enjoy a peaceful walk along a piece of that same historic path. Imagine the stories this trail could tell… the travelers who passed through, the wagons that rolled along, and the footsteps that came long before ours.

We also want to give a **huge thank you to Bridges to the Other Side Inc** for all the hard work they’ve put into clearing the enormous trees and overgrowth along the trail. 🌳 Their dedication and countless hours of work have helped make it possible for us to uncover and share this special piece of Walker Inn’s history with our guests.

We’re so grateful to be able to preserve, reveal, and share more of the story of this very special place. 🏡❤️

Come walk the trail. Feel the history. Make a memory.
