We made you a map.

The Innkeepers' Holiday Map is here: Biltmore's Candlelight Evenings, the gingerbread houses, Winter Lights, our favorite cocoa stops, winter walks, antiques, and small-town candlelight strolls. Every place is a tap away from driving directions, measured from our porch. There's a printable version for the glovebox, too.

Explore it: https://thereynoldsmansion.com/holiday-map/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=social-2026-10

Breakfast is at nine. Everything else on the map is optional.

The secret of leaf season: the valleys turn last. Right now, this very week, peak color is at our elevation, on our own hillside and along the quiet stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway ten minutes from the door.

The October crowds have thinned, the overlooks are yours, and we have rooms this week. Breakfast, as always, is at nine.

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and we still have rooms on the mountain.

Make a weekend of it: trick-or-treating under the glass roof of the Grove Arcade (Saturday, 3 to 6 PM), a ghost walk through downtown's haunted corners, the corn maze at Eliada Farm (through November 1), and for the brave, a late-night comedy ghost tour by bus.

Then come home to a quiet hillside, a fire going, and a four-course breakfast at nine. The best cure we know for a night of ghost stories.

Happy Sunday! Gold chargers, the good silver, and the dining room table set for the morning. Paul's four-course gourmet breakfast is included with every stay — this is where it lands each morning.

There's something about this tree.

Ten years ago, a couple took their wedding photos under the big maple in our front yard — long before our time here. This August they came back for their tenth anniversary, stayed with us for the first time, and asked if they could climb on the swing one more time.

Same tree. Same swing. Same two people. Happy Anniversary! Thank you for sharing your story and anniversary at The Reynolds Mansion.

We're still thinking about it.

Labor Day weekend is five days out, and all three Carriage House suites are still open — All That Jazz, Elephant Walk, and Blue Hydrangea. That's the dog-friendly side of the property, so the whole family comes.

Three mornings of Paul's four-course breakfast. Afternoons on the grounds with the Blue Ridge in the distance. A hammock under the magnolia that nobody's in a hurry to leave.

The Claudette Room in the main house has the full weekend open as well.

History Story: The couple over the mantel aren't Reynoldses. They're Helen and Fred Faber, and every innkeeper who's run this house since owes them something.

They bought the property in 1977, moved in around 1980, and spent a year putting it right. In 1981 they opened it as an inn, well before "bed and breakfast" meant anything to most travelers. Weekends were leisure guests. Weekdays were traveling salesmen, back when catalogs ran on deposits and a rep drove a route each week to collect.

They had themselves painted with the staircase behind them. Now they look out over the room where we serve breakfast, which feels about right.

Two chairs under the big tree, waiting on cooler evenings. August up here brings the first cool snap — and on the high ridges along the Blue Ridge Parkway just a few minutes from here, the first whispers of fall color.

Coffee tastes better with a view of treetops. The Elephant Walk suite in our Carriage House has a private porch just for slow mornings and you can bring fido, too.

We hired a new landscaping and tree pruning crew for the Carriage House grounds this week. 🌳🐾

Their credentials?
Climbs 30 feet in seconds: 10/10
Garden trimming efficiency: 8/10
Manners around the breakfast porch: Needs work.

Turns out the secret is out—even the Asheville wildlife knows where to find the best trees, mountain views, and morning smells.

Complimentary gourmet breakfast? Included.

Complimentary morning bear safari? Apparently also on the menu.
