🍎 LABOR DAY WEEKEND, COSBY STYLE.

A long weekend in the mountains deserves something a little extra good… and since Carver’s Orchard is right down the road, we’re thinking apples. 😋

Grab a bag while you’re out exploring and bring them back to the cabin for this:

Easy Caramel Apple Cobbler

🍎 5–6 apples, peeled and sliced
🤎 ½ cup brown sugar
✨ 1 tsp cinnamon
🧈 ½ cup melted butter
🥣 1 cup self-rising flour
🥛 1 cup milk
🍚 1 cup sugar
🍯 Caramel sauce

Toss the apples with the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Pour the melted butter into a baking dish. Mix the flour, sugar and milk together, then pour the batter over the butter. Don’t stir!

Spoon the apples over the top and bake at 350° for about 40–45 minutes, until golden and bubbly.

Then comes the important part…

Vanilla ice cream.
Warm caramel drizzle.
Absolutely no regrets. 😂

You know that moment on a Smoky Mountain trip when everybody finally quits asking, “What are we doing next?” 😂

The shoes come off.
The phones get put down.
Somebody settles in on the porch.
And suddenly… nobody is in a hurry anymore.

That’s the good stuff. ❤️

Come hike the trails. Chase waterfalls. Explore Cosby. Do all the things.

But leave a little room in the itinerary for a warm drink, a mountain sunset, and doing absolutely nothing at all.

Wildwood would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Dolly Parton. Dolly proved how much just one person could influence and change the world. She lived generously, humbly, kindly, and lovingly, with lots of humor, grace, and integrity. She showed the world that no dream was too big. She inspired people all over the world. She never forgot her roots and poured into the community financially and emotionally. She showed up. Always.

She was one of the special ones, and though she inspired many of us to be better and do better, there will never be another like her.

I am honored and humbled to have grown up in this community—her community. She represented East Tennessee well, and what a life she lived.

Thank you, Dolly, for all you did and all you gave. Thank you for showing us what it looks like to truly love like Jesus.

Rest well, Dolly.

You may have heard Cosby called the Adventure Side of the Smokies…

Turns out, that adventurous streak is nothing new. 😂🥃

Long before the hiking, rafting and mountain getaways, Cosby was known for a different kind of adventure. It was once called the “Moonshine Capital of the World.”

Plenty of woods. Plenty of backroads. Plenty of people who apparently didn’t care much for being told what they could and couldn’t make. 😂

So yes, Cosby has changed a little over the years…

But the adventurous spirit? That part stuck around. 😉

That’s okay. Just remember this feeling—the exhaustion, the I need a break, the promise you made yourself somewhere around Wednesday that you were absolutely doing something fun next weekend. 😂
