Some nights in the mountains just make you stop and look up. 🌙✨

We caught this incredible ring around the moon over Wildwood last night. It’s called a lunar halo, and it happens when moonlight passes through tiny ice crystals high in the atmosphere, creating a nearly perfect circle around the moon.

There’s also an old saying that a ring around the moon means a change in the weather is coming — and there’s actually a little science behind that one. The high, thin clouds that create lunar halos can sometimes show up ahead of an approaching weather system.

But science aside… it was just really, really cool. ❤️

One of our favorite things about being tucked away in the mountains is that sometimes the best entertainment is simply stepping outside and looking up.

One of our favorite things lately has been seeing Wildwood through YOUR eyes. ❤️

We’ve had several guests tag us in their vacation photos and others send us pictures from their stays, and we absolutely love it. The mountain views, creekside mornings, wildlife visitors, family adventures…even those quiet moments on the porch that somehow end up being the ones you remember most.

Looks like Blue Heaven has become a local favorite. 🐿️💙

Apparently this little guy has claimed Blue Heaven, one of our Wildwood Mountain cabins, as his favorite hangout.

No reservation.
No check-in instructions.
Didn’t even pay the cleaning fee.

Yet somehow he got the best seat in the house. 😂

We can’t guarantee he’ll be there when you arrive, but we can pretty much guarantee you’ll meet a few of his neighbors. 🌲🐿️

Some places are just worth the drive—and Mina’s Market Co. is one of them. 🥪🍎🌲

If you’re staying with us at Wildwood Mountain and your adventures take you toward Gatlinburg, do yourself a favor and wander over to the Glades.

We stopped at Mina’s and tried Jed’s Smoky Orchard, and y’all… who knew a sandwich could be this exciting? 😂

The flavors. The creativity. The portion. This wasn’t your everyday grab-a-sandwich-and-go lunch. It was one of those meals where you take the first bite and immediately realize somebody knew exactly what they were doing when they put all of those flavors together. Quite literally unlike any sandwich we’ve ever had—or probably could have dreamed up ourselves.

And the sandwich is only part of the fun. Mina’s is filled with grab-and-go goodies, charcuterie, sweets, locally sourced finds, gifts and plenty of things you didn’t know you needed until you walked through the door.

One of our favorite things about staying on the Cosby side of the Smokies is that there is so much worth exploring beyond the usual tourist stops. Mina’s isn’t right down the road from Wildwood, but trust us on this one:
