A special week at Colorado Trails Ranch!⁠ 🤎

We had the pleasure of hosting the Colorado Dude Ranchers Association for four days of connection, collaboration, and a little ranch fun!⁠
⁠
From meetings in our newly renovated Opera House to ranch tours, delicious meals, and catching up with old friends, it was a wonderful reminder of what makes this community so special.⁠
⁠
Over the years, we’ve watched each other’s ranches grow, children grow up, and friendships deepen. There’s something pretty special about sharing this way of life with people who understand it best.⁠
⁠
And in true Colorado fashion, a moose even wandered up the driveway to say hello! 🫎⁠

Grateful for this incredible ranching community and the opportunity to host everyone this year!⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠

The hard is what makes it great.

Hunting season is in full swing here in the San Juan Mountains, and there’s nothing easy about it.

Our hunters are covering 4 to 10 miles a day on foot, navigating rugged mountain terrain, changing elevations, and putting in the work that makes a successful hunt so rewarding.

Step inside our ranch mercantile and get outfitted for your week of adventure. From cowboy hats and shirts to local jewelry, handmade goods, and ranch souvenirs, there’s a little something for everyone.⁠

But one of our favorite finds? Our very own wrangler, Cameron, crochets the cutest little horses! 🐴 You can even request your horse’s name, and she’ll have a personalized keepsake ready for you to take home before your stay ends. How special is that?⁠

Right next door is our Ice Cream Parlor, where afternoon milkshakes and coffee are ranch traditions. After a summer day on horseback, grab a sweet treat and head back to your cabin or relax by the pool.⁠

Cowboy Gathering weekend, ranch-style 🤎⁠

The celebration didn’t end with the parade!⁠

In honor of Durango Cowboy Gathering weekend, we welcomed many locals to Colorado Trails Ranch for a beautiful fall ride through the mountains. 🍂⁠
⁠
After the ride, everyone headed back to the ranch for a delicious BBQ, live music, and a chance to spend the evening together.⁠
⁠
Fall colors, horses, good food, live music, and great company. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate Durango’s Western traditions. ⁠

From 3:30–5:30 PM, bring the kids out for ranch-style trick-or-treating, including a hay-ride treat hunt and pony rides in the arena.⁠

Durango’s favorite fall tradition 🤠⁠

Today, downtown Durango looked a little more like the Wild West as horses, cowboys, cowgirls, wagons, and local ranchers took over Main Avenue for the annual Durango Cowboy Gathering Parade.⁠
⁠
And of course, Colorado Trails Ranch joined in the fun!⁠
⁠
The Cowboy Gathering celebrates the Western heritage that is still very much alive here in Southwest Colorado. It’s one of those weekends that brings the whole community together and reminds us why we love calling this place home.⁠
⁠
Horses in the streets, cowboys in town, crisp fall air, and the San Juan Mountains as the backdrop. It doesn’t get much more Colorado than this. ⁠
⁠
