You never know who you’ll meet on the trail in Estes Park! 🫎🏔️

One of the best parts about hiking in and around Rocky Mountain National Park is the wildlife you may spot along the way. This beautiful moose made an already incredible hike to Chasm Lake even more memorable!

Chasm Lake is one of our favorite adventures in Rocky Mountain National Park, with incredible mountain scenery, alpine terrain and spectacular views beneath Longs Peak. And sometimes, you get a little extra surprise along the way. 💙

Seeing a moose in the wild is amazing, but always remember to admire wildlife from a safe distance, give them plenty of space and never approach or feed them.

🦌 Elk Rut Season Has Arrived in Estes Park! 🍂🏔️

It's one of the most magical times of the year in Estes Park — the elk rut has begun!
And if you're hoping to see elk during your visit, the Estes Park golf course is one of their favorite hangouts. It's common to see large herds relaxing on the fairways and surrounding areas, especially during the fall. ⛳🦌

You may even hear the unmistakable sound of bull elk bugling across the valley — one of those Estes Park experiences you never forget!

Just remember that rutting elk are wild animals and can be especially unpredictable this time of year. Please admire them from a safe distance, never approach or feed them, and use your camera zoom for those close-up photos.

🌄 One Perfect Day in Rocky Mountain National Park

Planning just one day in Rocky Mountain National Park? Here's one of our favorite itineraries!

☀️ 6:30–7:00 AM
Start early and enjoy the peaceful morning as wildlife becomes active. Keep an eye out for elk, mule deer, and maybe even a moose!

🥾 8:00 AM
Explore the beautiful Bear Lake area.
Take the easy walk around Bear Lake, or continue to:
• Nymph Lake
• Dream Lake
• Emerald Lake
• Alberta Falls

🥪 12:00 PM
Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the park's scenic picnic areas or head back into Estes Park for lunch.

🏔️ 1:30 PM
Drive the world-famous Trail Ridge Road (weather permitting), stopping at overlooks along the way for incredible mountain views.

📸 3:30 PM
Visit the Alpine Visitor Center at nearly 12,000 feet and take in panoramic views above the treeline.

🦌 5:00 PM
On your way back, drive through Moraine Park or Horseshoe Park, two of the best places to spot elk and other wildlife.

🍽️ Evening
Head into downtown Estes Park for dinner, ice cream, shopping, or a relaxing walk along the Riverwalk.

We love hiking at Brainard Lake Recreation Area! 🥾🏔️🐾

These views were on our way to beautiful Lake Isabelle — one of our favorite places to get outside and enjoy the Colorado mountains. And even better, many of the trails in the area are dog-friendly, so your four-legged hiking buddy can come along too! 🐶
