After fifteen unforgettable years, we have made the difficult decision to close the doors of the Smith Island Inn at the end of this weekend.
What began as a hobby business venture became so much more than we ever imagined.
The Smith Island Inn gave our family the incredible gift of raising our four children in a place filled with love, safety, and community. They grew up with freedoms that are increasingly rare—exploring the island, building lifelong friendships, and enjoying the simple, carefree joys of childhood surrounded by water, nature, and neighbors who felt like family.
Over the years, our children learned the value of hard work, hospitality, and the importance of welcoming others into their home. The Inn became the backdrop for countless memories, not only for our family but for the thousands of guests who chose to stay with us.
To every visitor who crossed our doorstep, shared stories in the gazebo, returned year after year, and supported our small business: thank you. Your kindness, laughter, and friendships helped the Smith Island Inn thrive for fifteen years, and we will forever be grateful for the role you played in this remarkable chapter of our lives.
To our amazing staff who allowed us to fulfill our dreams while living afar who stepped in and truly treated the Inn as their own- we are wholeheartedly forever grateful to you. Words could never convey how much we appreciate each and every one of you!
While this chapter is coming to a close, the memories created here will remain with us always. We leave with full hearts, immense gratitude, and deep appreciation for everyone who made the Smith Island Inn what it was.
