There’s something special about fall on the Emerald Coast. Quieter beaches, spectacular sunsets, and a slower pace make it one of our favorite times of year.

After a stormy few days along the Emerald Coast, we’re reminded just how special Okaloosa Island really is.

While there’s some cleanup ahead, we’re thankful our beautiful island was spared more serious damage.

A beautiful reminder that even after the storm, the sugar-white sands, emerald waters, and coastal charm that we all love are still here.

🐢 SALTY SURF SPOTLIGHT #12 SEA TURTLES

Some of our most special Okaloosa Island visitors arrive after the sun goes down.

Sea turtle nesting season is one of those wonderful reminders that our beautiful beaches aren’t just a vacation destination they’re also home to some pretty amazing wildlife.

If you’re visiting during nesting season, a few simple things can make a big difference: keep the beach clean and flat, dim beachfront lights at night, skip the flash photography, and always give turtles plenty of space.

Most of us will never be lucky enough to actually see a nesting turtle or hatchlings making their way to the Gulf and that’s okay. Just knowing they’re out there makes an evening walk along the beach feel a little more magical. 🐢

For us, that’s part of the magic of a beach vacation, the quiet moments. Bare feet in the sand. Salt air. A beautiful shell tucked away to remind you of your trip long after you’ve gone home. 🐚
