American coots are staging at Beaver Bay. They apparently have relocated from the upper bay where the once gathered by the hundreds. Another phenomenon of the fall waterfowl migration season. Photos are from Craig Tweedale.

This Porta Dock boat lift remains in the water near the township access on the North Shore of Big Birch Lake. No owner has come forward to claim it. If you are the owner or know the owner, would you please remove the lift from the water. Once the lake freezes, the boat lift will be damaged. No one on the shoreline near the access knows how the lift ended up at this location. It has been there since mid-August. Please get the word out to the owner.

This boat lift has been parked at the township North Shore Access since mid-August. None of the neighbors to the access know who the owner is. Would the owner please remove the lift soon? If anyone knows the owner, would you please contact that person about the lift?

The BBLA received the Community Conservation Award from the Todd County Soil & Water Conservation for its work in conjunction with the Little Birch Improvement Association for it work on educating property owners about aquatic invasive species and shoreline protection.

Board member Steve Thelen with the help from Mike Sadlowsky, removed the channel lights and installed new “Danger Thin Ice” signs at the channel last week. Should be set for winter.

Not the last and not the least of the seasons floating bogs landed in front of the Bob and Sally Hughes residence on the North Shore in early October. Thanks to John Roe, Chris Konsor, Chris Ellering and Cody Hatton for stepping up at the last minute to get the thing moved. This was not an association effort, just some volunteers helping the Hughes.
