DEC REGION 4 ANNOUNCES TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF AIRPORT ROAD FISHING ACCESS SITE IN DELAWARE COUNTY

Anticipated Closure October 29-30 for Parking Area Paving

The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation announced today the temporary closure of the Airport Road Fishing Access Site at 317 Airport Road in the Town of Deposit, Delaware County. The closure is needed to allow for paving of the parking area.

The site will be closed beginning Thursday, October 29, 2026, with an anticipated reopening on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

These fish deserve a break. If you care about this river system and want to see it thrive for years to come, please be a responsible and respectful angler and avoid targeting fish on redds or walking on them to allow the fish to complete a productive spawning process undisturbed.

We are entering the time of year where brown trout are beginning to spawn. Be on the look out for patches of clean, bright gravel and give these fish plenty of room to procreate and bring us future generations of wild trout! Please do not fish over these spots or near them!

While shallow riffles, tail-outs of pools and other high-oxygenated positions are most common, these can be found elsewhere.

The dry fly fishing has been good with little BWOs in the afternoons and evenings. The fall colors and hatches will only last for a few more weeks. So, if you want to get in on the action before it ends, give us a call.

Little BWOs are the main hatch and those cloudy rainy days have been the best for the dry fly action. The season is coming to an end and if you want to get in on the action, give us a call.

The dry fly fishing has had its moments over the last few days. Cloudy days have offered the best fishing, while sunny days have been tougher until things pick up in the evening. BWOs have been the main hatch, alongside a few ants, Slate Drakes, and Cahills.

We still have a few cabins and a guide available for this weekend. Give us a call if you are interested in getting out!
