Well well well, what do we have here? We'll take half a road vs. no road/ferry only access any day of the week...Dinky's Waterfront Restaurant will be open Friday 10/30 , Closed Saturday 10/31, Open Sunday & Monday 5-8, and after that back to regular fall schedule-open Thurs-Monday 5p-8p, so, come get your fill of your fall favorites...and make sure come in to see us to get some awesome gifts at seriously good discounts!! Good Morning from Village Marina, we will be closing a bit early today (Sunday 10/25), not quite sure when, but, sometime after 12, so make sure you pop by this blustery morning and get in on the BIG SALE still going on! Had some wonderful gifters yesterday who got some great scores! We will return to normal(ish) hours tomorrow and hope that these king tides and NE winds don't affect us much...We are staying busy getting next years gifts tagged and ready for you!

Wind is still howling, island is still under mandatory evacuation for visitors, we’ve been lucky to avoid tide in the village so far…we are going to stay hunkered down today and likely tomorrow to give our employees a little extra break after a bustling season. We’ll keep you posted 🤩

That’s a wrap folks, made it home long before the tide came up, now what to make in the crockpot is the next decision…open to your favorite recipes! We’ll keep you posted when we hope to be back in the office…As always, If you have to be on the roads don’t be an a**…drive slowly, respectfully, and hit the underside of your car with soap and a pressure washer before even going in the house…don’t let the gremlins get ya!

Mandatory evacuation for visitors began last night, there is a very high likelihood that the highway will become impassable within the next couple of tide cycles and that Hatteras Village will be inundated with sound side flooding.THE WATER ON THE ROADWAYS WILL BE SALTWATER...BE AWARE, BE KIND, AND STAY OFF "THE LIST"...WE WILL BE CLOSING AT SOME POINT TODAY BEFORE CONDITIONS WORSEN TOO MUCH, WE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED HERE AS THE STORM RAGES ON.

Also, if you can, follow Brett Barley, he has such a wonderful grasp on how the weather and island intertwine, without all of the bluster that you get from the channel that shall not be named...he doesn't do weather for a living, but I would bank on his forecast insight far and above what we normally get from the mainstream media...and basically with what is being seen right now with the forecast, if you are coming to the island plan ahead and bring extra supplies/medications and plan to extend your stay, if you leave the island...pack toothpaste and spare un**es...

Don't look at the forecast...don't look at the forecast...Crap...we looked at the forecast...things could start kicking up wind wise late Saturday/early Sunday...weather bug is saying 25-35, weather channel is saying 20-30...and Windy is saying 35-40+...but what they all have in common is that there will be North in the wind...with that being said...NE would cause chaos in pea island and likely cause sound flooding in Hatteras Village, N would be nicer to Pea Island but still flood the village and NNW or NW will spare Pea Island but absolutely get your boots/waders wet in the village....we are crossing our fingers and watching it close as the storm continues to develop.
