ʻApapane offering a melodic trill amid the morning drizzle. These crimson beauties are often seen flying above the canopy in search of patches of nectar-filled flowering ʻōhiʻa lehua.
Like all of Hawaiʻi’s native birds, ʻapapane are ecologically and culturally vital to the well-being of the Hawaiian Islands.
