Big Platte Lake, a 2500 acre all-sports lake, is ideal for swimming boating and fishing. Our private, sandy beach is an ideal water-playground for children because of an extensive shallow area, perfect for frolicking, wading, and floating. In the deeper water farther out there is a raft for swimming. Use any of our 4 kayaks, 5 canoes or the rowboat that comes with your cottage and go kayaking, canoeing, or fishing for walleye, bass, northern pike and panfish. Bring your own equipment and go sailing, water-skiing, windsurfing or jet-skiing. Play a game of horseshoes at the shoreline. Shoot some hoops on our basketball court. Relax in the lawn swings. Toast s'mores around the fire circle as you enjoy breath-taking sunset views over the lake. We also have a classic log cabin nestled in the woods just across the road on Little Platte Lake. Little Platte Lake is a scenic 805-acre lake with quiet, natural beauty, eagles, loons, beaver and great fishing for bass and panfish. The lakes are connected by the Dead Stream and Platte River, which offer excellent canoeing/kayaking and fishing. Our resort is in a wooded area, adjacent to the awesome Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore with its world-famous 'Dune Climb' and Pierce-Stocking Scenic Drive. The white sand beaches of Lake Michigan, where you can swim, walk the shoreline or hunt Petoskey stones, are just 10 minutes away. We are open year-round for summer vacations, fall hunting and fishing, winter skiing and snowmobiling and morel mushroom hunting in the spring. The area boasts many quaint lakeside towns with wineries, shopping, arts & antiquing, dining, etc. The area offers arts and music at Interlochen Arts Academy, winery tours, golfing, casinos and sightseeing. You can take the family to a drive-in movie theater for family oriented movies at the Cherry Bowl. Tour the lighthouse at Point Betsie.
