Headquarters for Martin Dies, Jr. Everyone that is camping with us needs to check in at the headquarters office.

Nestled in the pineywoods of East Texas, our park offers plenty of campsites including RV, tent, and shelter cabins; tons of hiking and paddling trails, fishing piers, a swimming area, and a chance to see an abundance of wildlife State Park is located 11 miles west of Jasper, Texas on Hwy 190, turn south onto Park Road 48 South at the Henhouse Unit of the Park.

I can't believe it's already November. Where did the year go??

Anyway, hope to see you at any of these programs!

Alligators: Predatory Engineers- Discover alligators and not only their evolutionary history but the good they do for the ecosystem!

Armadllio Antics- Hear all the amazing things this shelled mammal can do!

Awesome Possums- The tail of North America's only marsupial is explored!

Guided Hikes- Hike with a ranger to see what we can spot along the trail.

Guided Paddle- No sign up required, just show up! Make sure to stop by park headquarters to grab your lifejacket and paddle or bring your own!

Pelts and Tracks- Touch real fur, fake p**p and tracks during this sensory driven program.

Pioneer Day- Join us at the park amphitheater for Dutch Oven cooking, pelts and tracks demonstration, Bevils Rangers and Cane Pole Fishing.

Tuesday's weather forecast for thunderstorms hasn't changed so we unfortunately are (again) CANCELING the Nov 3rd Bevilport paddle trip.

We're actively looking at dates to reschedule. Third times the charm, right?

With rain in the forecast all day tomorrow, the 8:00 hike will be cancelled and the afternoon programs will move to inside the education center which will be open 9:00-12:00 AND 1:30-3:00.

The Hardwood Stump Borer is a species of longhorn beetle that’s dark brown to almost black in color and preys on trees such as oaks, maples and black walnuts, that are weak from disease, drought or wound or recently dead. This type of beetle lays eggs in those trees and after hatching, the larvae bore into the tree to feed on the wood and bark. Once they’ve matured, the beetle emerges as dark brown to almost black, 1-2” in length adult and starts the life cycle process all over again.
