randparents watch grandkids swim for the first time, couples get married on the beach, then bring the kids, have family reunions. We have guests and owners who have literally been returning to Hale Pau Hana for five generations. We’re honored to be more than a place to vacation — to be a part of their family and the memories they make together.

Master king on the other side of the unit. Sleeps six. Tower second floor, fully air conditioned, daily lawn coffee 8 to 10.

King Kamehameha I unified Hawaii in 1810. Today carries his name.

The shoreline he knew is the shoreline still here. The mountains he knew are the mountains still here. The Hale Pau Hana sits on Kamaole Beach II in Kihei.

Honu peak season on Kamaole Beach II in Kihei. Their beach too. We're just the ones who built next door. 🐢

Sometimes one surfaces just past the shorebreak. Sometimes you sit on the lanai for an hour and never see a thing. Both are the trip.

If you do spot a honu, give them space. Ten feet on the sand, the same in the water. Look long. Don't reach.

The Hale Pau Hana has shared this shoreline with them since 1969.

Bedroom door. Lanai door. Lawn. Sand. That's the trip.

Adults only, max two. King bed, full AC, private lanai that opens straight onto the grass. No elevator. No carrying anything up anything.

For couples who'd rather walk to the water than climb to the view.

Lahaina Noon over Kihei today at 12:22 PM. Step outside. Look down. No shadow. 🌴

Twice a year the sun passes directly overhead and Hawaii loses its shadows for a minute. It only happens here.

The Hale Pau Hana has watched this same lawn lose its shadow since 1969. Beachfront condo on Kamaole Beach II in South Maui.

Memorial Day weekend in Kihei. Field notes from a beachfront condo that's been doing this since 1969. 🌺

Beach before eight. Sand still cool, water still glass.
Coffee from a hole-in-the-wall, not a chain.
The good snorkel cove is about twelve minutes south.
Sunset side stays warm until it doesn't.

Bring a towel you don't mind getting salty. Pack two waters, not one. Leave the schedule in the car.

Late spring on Kamaole Beach II in Kihei. The light stays out a little longer now. 🌅

Sand still warm on the way back. Sky doing that slow purple-into-peach thing.

A month ago this hour was already dark. Now there's a window. One more walk. One more look before dinner.

Waves. Birds in the plumeria. The coffee maker doing its thing. 🌺

That's the soundtrack of a Hale Pau Hana morning. No alarm clock, no traffic, no rush. Just the Pacific doing what it has been doing off this stretch of Kamaole Beach since 1969, and a cup of something warm in your hands before the rest of the island is even awake.

This is the pau hana version of a Tuesday. Close your eyes and picture it. 🌊
