A lot of fish brought in on day 2 of the Alhonna Fall Buddy Bass Tournament. Congrats to our winners showing up with over 30lbs of fish for the 2 day event! Our Big Bass weighed in at a whopping 6.47! Hope to see you all in the spring!

Planning your next fishing trip? Check out these quick tips on bass species native to our lake:

Largemouth Bass: The fan favorite at Lake of the Ozarks! Largemouths hang out in shallow waters, especially around docks and coves. Early morning or evening is when they’re most active. Try using jigs, crankbaits, or spinnerbaits for the best results.

Smallmouth Bass: A rarer find but a rewarding catch! Smallmouths prefer rocky, deeper waters and love lures that imitate crayfish or minnows. They're strong fighters, so get ready for some action when you hook one!

Spotted Bass (Kentucky Bass): These bass are aggressive and often found in clearer, deeper waters near drop-offs and ledges. Jerkbaits and worms are your best bet for landing one of these.

White Bass (Striped Bass): Known for their schooling behavior, white bass are fun to catch in large numbers! They tend to gather in deeper waters during the day but come closer to the surface in the morning and evening. Look for them around points and bridges, and try using spoons or crankbaits to snag a bunch.

Pro Tip: Fall is a fantastic time for bass fishing at Lake of the Ozarks! With cooler water temperatures, bass are more active and easier to catch. Look for them near docks, rock piles, and ledges.
