Local Tip: Stay right. The clockwise route offers a much friendlier climb. Go left and you'll discover new muscles, question your life choices, and possibly begin negotiating with a higher power.

Things the Boise National Forest Has That Disney Doesn't - Don't get us wrong—we like a good castle as much as the next person.

But while millions of people spend their vacations standing in line to experience someone else's version of magic, Idaho quietly offers the real thing.

There are no ride operators, no wristbands, no lightning passes, and no closing bells. Just 2.5 million acres of mountains, rivers, hot springs, wildlife, dirt roads, it's a river running through a canyon, wind through the pines, and the occasional owl reminding you that you're a guest in its neighborhood.

The Boise National Forest isn't polished. It isn't scripted. It doesn't need fireworks. Maybe that's why so many people who find this place don't tell anyone about it.

Because some magic is better when it's real.

Our unofficial answer is: That's exactly what someone protecting Sasquatch would say.

Apparently a group of teenage campers reported being stalked by multiple Sasquatches in Idaho over Memorial Day weekend. Whether you're a believer, skeptic, or somewhere in between, one thing is certain:

The Boise National Forest is a very big place - At SouthFork, we can't guarantee a Sasquatch sighting. Come see for yourself.

We keep getting asked the same question: "Why does the lodge smell so good?"

The answer is simple: | Provisions

The smell of fresh cinnamon rolls, cookies, cardamom buns, banana bread, brownies, and whatever new creation is coming out of the oven finds its way through the lodge long before the coffee is finished brewing.

The best part? The menu changes every weekly.

Some inspiration comes from the mountains. Some from the seasons. Some from a random idea that turned into something delicious randomly in the middle of the day.

Come for breakfast. Come for lunch. Come for a sweet treat. Or just come sit by the river and pretend you accidentally wandered into a bakery in the middle of the Boise National Forest.

Trailhead Café opens daily at 7:00 AM and stays open throughout the day.

I am also continuing to accept personal orders 7 days a week! Whether you’re planning a birthday, family gathering, special event, or simply want something homemade, custom orders are always welcome. Please allow up to 48 hours for order fulfillment.

Memorial Day Weekend at SouthFork Lodge

This weekend, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country — and the families who carried that sacrifice beside them.

The SouthFork family has multiple generations of veterans, and as a veteran-owned business, this weekend means a great deal to us personally.

As a small thank you, all veterans and those who served can enjoy a complimentary slice of carrot cake from Wyld Provisions this Memorial Day weekend.

Not because cake changes anything… but because gratitude should be shared whenever possible.

Everything at SouthFork is made fresh — from house breads to a seasonal menu inspired by the Boise National Forest.

We’re looking for a passionate, reliable Line Cook who takes pride in:
- Presentation
- Knife work
- Flavor
- Consistency
- Teamwork

You’ll work directly beside our Executive Chef in a fast-moving kitchen where flexibility matters and no two weekends are the same.

Staff housing on the property. Many team members work 3.5 full days (~40 hours) and then enjoy 3.5 days off. Great fit for someone in Boise, McCall, Stanley, or looking for a seasonal mountain lifestyle

We’re looking for strong work ethic, ambition, and eagerness to learn.
