Babylon Fire update: 93% contained, 107,173 acres

To reduce long daily commutes, some firefighters are "spiked out" at this temporary camp on the southeast side of the Babylon Fire.

Staying closer to their assigned work areas means firefighters can get to the fireline more quickly, spend more time fighting the fire, and have more time to rest and recover before their next shift.

The Needles district of Canyonlands National Park has reopened after the temporary closure due to the Babylon Fire. Elephant Hill 4WD and Lavender Canyon 4WD roads remain closed to motor vehicle and bicycle traffic. Access to Cathedral Butte Trailhead is also temporarily closed.
