This Saturday, October 10th in South Carolina, the Little River Shrimp Festival kicks off two full days of seafood, music, shopping, and fun along the Historic Little River Waterfront! The 20th annual festival runs Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with more than 200 vendors filling the waterfront streets with handmade crafts, local businesses, community groups, food stands, and plenty more to browse. Shrimp is the star of the weekend, with local waterfront restaurants serving it in different ways along with fresh seafood and plenty of classic festival food. You can also catch live music on two stages, plus stilt walkers, balloon artists, and a kids’ area for younger visitors. The festival actually began as the Little River Shrimp & Jazz Festival before its name was shortened to ShrimpFest in 2012 as the music lineup grew beyond jazz. Admission is $10 each day, while kids 12 and younger get in free. The event goes on rain or shine, with off-site parking and shuttle service available. You can even arrive by water taxi from Grande Harbour Marina.

Rain or shine Myrtle Beach's 17th annual Mini Marathon and Coastal 5K are this Saturday, October 10! More than 1,700 runners will take to the streets to run 13.1 or 3.1 miles, finishing on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. Registration for the Mini Marathon is full, but space is still available for the Coastal 5K.

The mini marathon begins at 7 a.m., Saturday, October 10, at the corner of Eighth Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard. The Coastal 5K begins at 7:15 a.m. Stay tuned for road closure announcements.
