Before the nation itself, there was New Haven.
Founded in 1638 by Puritan settlers, on lands called Quinnitukqut by the local Indigenous peoples. Yale came shortly after, in 1701. Since then, our home city and campus have been closely intertwined—synonymous with academic excellence and influence, producing generations of graduates whose reach extends across every facet of political, intellectual, and cultural life.
This year’s local 250th programming brings that history into focus through exhibitions, events, and public dialogue. It’s a reflection on the American experiment, through a lens New Haven and Yale are uniquely positioned to offer. 🇺🇸
