Situated in the heart of upper midtown Manhattan on West 56th Street at 5th Avenue, The Whitby Hotel is a celebration of contemporary art and design. It's just two blocks from Central Park and on the doorstep of some of New York's leading restaurants, galleries and museums, including MoMA. There are 86 individually designed bedrooms and suites, each with floor to ceiling windows, many with a private terrace and stunning views of the Manhattan skyline. Interiors have been designed by Kit Kemp in her award-winning modern British style.

Last Sunday, we had the pleasure of welcoming for a calligraphy workshop, where participants spent the afternoon exploring the art of handwritten lettering and learning a few tricks of the trade. It was a lovely opportunity to slow down, get creative and try something new in good company.

From leisurely walks through Central Park to crisp mornings exploring the charming neighbourhoods of Greenwich Village and the Upper East Side, it's a wonderful time to experience New York and all that the season has to offer.

A taste of autumn has arrived at The Whitby Bar & Restaurant, with two seafood dishes bringing their own distinct flavours to the menu. Our red snapper is served with beautifully crisp skin, tender greens and a tomato citrus broth, while the Sicilian red shrimp carpaccio offers a lighter contrast, with a blood orange vinaigrette, pomegranate seeds, hearts of palm and crispy sunchokes.

There’s a new way to take your tea, and this time, it comes in a cocktail glass. Our latest menu puts an unexpected spin on the familiar, with tea at the heart of every creation. Meet the Jaded Last Word, where Jade Spring green tea and matcha bring a bright, citrusy character; the Dragoni, pairing Oolong Wood Dragon with smoky mezcal and a hint of chilli; and Bananas in the Boardroom, where warming chai meets coffee and sweet banana.
