🍉The pavilion in the picnic area was built when Long Lake first started. The original posts were painted logs. It has been renovated but parts of it are the original structure.

Memory #15
The modern bathhouses that are at Long Lake today were originally the mens and ladies dressing room wings at the old bathhouse down on the beach. So, if you stand in the modern ones (even though they don’t look the same), you are actually a step back in time!

Please speak with your children/guests about turning off the water all the way in the bath houses. Also, please remind them to not put anything down the sinks as they will get clogged and cause flooding issues. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Please talk to your children and guests about what not to do in the bathhouses. This sink in the ladies bathhouse is clogged up with toilet paper, and we’ve had the sinks left on, nearly overflowing multiple times.

Memory #14
👙In the 20’s and 30’s, many people didn’t have swimming attire, so to remedy this issue, Bill invested in men’s and women’s WOOL bathing suits and rented them. In later years, Thelma and Eileen would reminisce about how many bathing suits they had to launder (by hand) each day, especially on busy weekends!

Memory #13
There was a bathhouse on the beach containing 500 baskets. Originally, people would pay to swim at the bathhouse and take a basket from the counter. There were two wings on the bathhouse (a ladies dressing area and a men’s). There was always an attendant to put the baskets in their proper place and each person was responsible to remember the number on his/her basket. If you forgot your number you would have to describe what clothing was on top of the basket and then there was a mad hunt by the attendant to find it!

Memory #12
🎬Free Saturday night movies were part of the summer fun at Long Lake. Bill would get local businesses to pay for advertising during the movies so anyone could come and enjoy the movie night. He had slides made to advertise before and during the movie. The original slides are displayed in The Landing as suncatchers in the windows.
