🏴☠️Today’s post is a and a current situation…. The first “Pirate Festival” occurred with the pirate Charles Vane finding Blackbeard nestled in on Ocracoke ~ probably what is now Springer’s Point. This happened in 1718, a few months before Blackbeard’s death in Teach’s Hole ~ obviously named for him.
🏴☠️The Pirate festival ~ now Jamboree ~ continues to this day~ it was brought back to life about 15 (maybe more?) years ago, by a small but passionate group who wanted to honor the piratical history of the island. Lisa (hey, that’s me! 🙋♀️) has very fond memories of those early days, and particularly of Capt. Pern and his amazing (and crazy fun) crew of re-enactors.
🏴☠️It happens to coincide with Halloween, which should make for some wild and crazy shenanigans and costumes…whilst still be family-friendly.
