(2330)

Ranked among the top hotels in the Southwest, the AAA Four Diamond Hermosa Inn is a jewel of a hideaway surrounded by an exclusive neighborhood in Paradise Valley, and minutes from Scottsdale and its many attractions. Handcrafted in the 1930s by cowboy artist Lon Megargee as his residence and art studio, the Inn's adobe architecture has kept its "authentic Arizona" character and charm. The 43 newly renovated guest casitas are nestled in a garden setting with breathtaking vistas of the lush desert and Camelback Mountain. Accommodations reflect the southwestern design of the original Casa Hermosa (beautiful house) and most include deep soaking tubs, beehive fireplaces and private patios. The culinary centerpiece is LON's at the Hermosa, a AAA Four Diamond restaurant with a Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator serving globally inspired Arizona fare. The restaurant is complemented by a subterranean wine cellar, a celebrated outdoor dining patio, and its bar and casual dining counterpart LON's Last Drop, named after one of Megargee's iconic paintings, many of which are displayed throughout the resort. Mezcal and black currant beneath a web of spun cotton candy, with a small spider keeping watch by the fire. The Black Widow is our Halloween pour at LON's Last Drop, and Halloween is Saturday.

Before it was The Hermosa Inn, it was Casa Hermosa, the home and studio cowboy artist Lon Megargee built in the 1930s.

He worked as a cowpuncher, bronco buster and exhibition roper before Arizona Highways called him the Zane Grey of cowboy artists. His painting The Last Drop From His Stetson gave our bar its name, and his work still hangs on the walls of the inn and LON's.

Stroll the grounds on our self-guided Art Walk and you'll find it alongside the Shona stone sculpture in the gardens.

Arizona Restaurant Week returns September 18 through 27.

For ten nights, LON's is serving a three-course prix fixe from Executive Chef Brian Peterson, built around the same Arizona farms and ranches that shape the menu the rest of the year. The setting doesn't change either: adobe walls Lon Megargee laid himself, mesquite smoke, Camelback out the window.

Swipe for the menu.
