In 1929, architect Albert Chase McArthur unveiled a architectural icon: a winter retreat built with hand-cast, geometric concrete blocks, custom designed and produced on the grounds. Famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, McArthur’s former mentor, was enlisted as a design consultant to bring the vision to life. The iconic design became known as the "Biltmore Block," a pattern said to be inspired by the silhouette of a freshly cut palm tree.

The resort opened its doors in February, welcoming guests by invitation-only as an exclusive escape for the era's most influential figures. The property took shape over nine months and more than 250,000 individually cast blocks, crowned by 33,000 pounds of copper along the roofline & one of the largest gold leaf ceilings in the world.

Nearly a century later, that same architectural design defines every corner of the resort.
