🌊 A personal update about Miss B’Haven 🌊
Did you know that most of the houses that you see on Airbnb and Vrbo are marked up 20 to 30% over the direct booking price?
Jack and I are seriously considering removing Miss B’Haven from Airbnb, and we wanted to share why.
Ongoing changes to Airbnb’s policies and fees are making it more difficult for us to protect our home while keeping stays affordable.
We love welcoming guests to our Port Aransas beach home. Many of you return year after year, and we truly appreciate the care you show our home during your stay.
We ask very little at checkout—just simple things like taking out the trash (especially diapers) and not leaving dirty dishes in the sink or dishwasher. Cleaners are not cheap and it’s a big job to turn around the house for the next guests. Short-term rental houses are not hotels. You get so much more staying in a house than you do staying at a hotel, but that comes with a couple of asks that don’t seem unreasonable. Most guests are happy to help, and we’re grateful!
Airbnb’s updated policies generally restrict homeowners and property managers from requesting guests’ phone numbers or other contact information, with limited exceptions. The policies also place additional restrictions on separate rental agreements. As owners, being able to communicate directly with the people staying in our home is important to us.
These changes, along with platform fees and other costs, have required us to substantially increase our Airbnb rates.
Behind every stay are real expenses, including insurance, property taxes, maintenance, repairs, utilities, and professional cleaning. We also put a great deal of time and care into making Miss B’Haven a comfortable and welcoming place for your vacation.

Find a home you love and read the reviews. Save a screenshot of the home’s name and photo, then search online for the owner or property management company’s direct booking website. Be sure to confirm that you’ve found the correct property, and compare the total price and cancellation policies before booking.
