Here’s why digging deep holes in the sand is dangerous.

Digging in the sand is more dangerous than it seems. Every year, people suffocate in collapsed holes and tunnels on beaches.

🚫 Never dig a hole deeper than it is wide. Keep them no deeper than knee-height.
🌊 Remember to fill in any holes before leaving the beach to ensure everyone's safety.
🕳️ Large sand holes hinder emergency rescues by lifeguards.
🐢 During sea turtle nesting season (May-September), these holes are deadly obstacles for nesting turtles and hatchlings.

The speed limit has dropped in the Villages, so don’t be like me and get a ticket!

Today was the day! Our crews were out changing signs along sections of NC12 where seasonal speed limits are in place. Please be aware of increased traffic, bicyclists and pedestrians as we head into the busy season. Let's make it a safe summer!
