The Great Northwest Community Improvement Association is made up of approximately 5,000 homes and nearly 15,000 residents. Established in 1976 on the northwest side of San Antonio, the Great Northwest is the second-largest Homeowners Association in the state of Texas and is comprised of seven subdivisions. The neighborhood offers a variety of resident amenities including two large pools, recreatio

nal fields, lighted courts, playgrounds, and two private clubhouses. The Association offers an array of recreational activities for residents and non-residents alike including youth basketball, soccer, and swim team. Annual events include the fall and spring garage sales, the holiday market, car show, summer movie series, and holiday events which enhance community spirit and provide many opportunities for longtime and new residents to connect. The association is run by an elected seven-member Board of Directors who are selected annually by a vote of the membership. The Board of Directors are residents of the neighborhood who volunteer their time to provide guidance and oversight of the self-managed community. The Great Northwest Board of Directors meets twice monthly and welcomes and encourages the attendance and participation of homeowners in shaping the future of the neighborhood.

Our Great Northwest 50th annual Independence Day Parade & BBQ is approaching! 🎉

We already have two high school marching bands, a dance team, and more joining us this year! 🥁

Participants in our parade will depart Zachry Middle School (at Timber Path and Cliffbrier), heading east on Timber Path until they reach Timberwilde Elementary (at Timber Path and Timberwilde).

We at the GNW recommend setting up anywhere along this route to enjoy viewing the parade!

Chalk & other activities will be provided by GNW's 50th Anniversary Committee at Silver Creek! ☀

The subsequent BBQ will be held at the Silver Creek Pool at 12 noon; show up early to ensure that you're served, as it will be first come, first serve! Hot dogs, chips, and lemonade are on the menu.

Coffee With Cops is cancelled for June!

Be sure to join us for the next meeting on Friday, July 17th at Flores Hall (9310 Timber Path) if you're interested in meeting up with SAPD Prue SAFFE Officer Clark and our very own Board GNWatch Liaison Gabe Briones to discuss all things neighborhood safety!

Swim lesson registration is NOW OPEN!

You can register your child and find more information at https://www.greatnorthwest.org/swimlessons

For ages 6 months-12 years we will be offering four 2-week sessions (8 classes per session), second session began Monday, June 15th, however later sessions are still open for registration! The fee for 6 months-12 years is $115 for residents and $135 for non-residents.

The private lessons (6 classes per session) will be available for $280 for residents and $305 for non-residents.


All swim lessons will be held at Emerald Valley Pool, located at 9310 Timber Path.

Join us for our second Dive-In Movie Night of the year on 6/26! 🍿

Movie showing: Zootopia 2 🎥

All Remaining Dive in dates:
-6/26: Zootopia 2
-7/10: Hoppers
-7/24: Shrek

Doors open at 7:30PM and movie will start at sundown. ☀

Don't miss out on the raffle going on through the night! It's $1 per ticket.

Extra parking available at Timberwilde across the street!

Outside food is welcomed at event, we just ask for no glass items in the pool area.

Members can enter for $5 with an up-to-date membership ID, which will grant entry to up to 5 people. Please be sure to have exact change!

Please be sure to stop by our main office to get your updated 2026 membership ID sticker. Office hours are 9am-6pm Monday-Friday.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our Gators during their swim meet yesterday at our Silver Creek pool! 🐊

Our Gators came out victorious vs Westcreek Wahoos! 🥇

Shoutout to Kona Ice of River City for helping our swimmers stay cool during the meet! 🍧

Big thank you to our head coach Kasey our assistant coaches Kathryn, Kayla, & Jan for keeping spirits high while cheering on the kiddos during their heats (on top of making sure the whole meet ran smoothly). 🏆

On behalf of GNW coaching staff, we would like to extend our gratitude to all volunteers who made the event a success! 🎉

Lastly, swim parents please do not forget about our next away meet Monday, June 22nd & Divisional Championship Meet at the Northside Swim Center Thursday, June 25th. ☀
