A photographic portrait of the Upstate New York mountain town, its creative spirit, and the enduring tension between nostalgia and reinvention.

Publisher and Creative Director Chris Brown knew from the outset that the issue needed to be shot on film. Its warmth, grain, and imperfections felt inseparable from Woodstock’s independent spirit and countercultural roots. Alongside longtime contributing photographer Steven Visneau, Brown documented Woodstock and the surrounding area, capturing not simply how the town looks, but how it feels.

The result is a personal look at a place shaped by its past but never defined by it, and by the artists, musicians, and makers continuing to shape its creative identity today.
