Sometimes it is sunny here, beautiful, exotic, tropical almost, or it rains, floods, dogs and cats sometimes live together, it might snow, hail, hurricane, mild breeze, drought, dust storm, locusts, meteors, forest fires, pirates, rains of Biblical proportions, mass hysteria, alien invasions, red tides, mutant fish…etc etc…

Before Topsail Island became everyone’s favorite spot for quiet beach walks and morning coffee, it had a rather noisy past. 🚀

Back in 1946, the U.S. Navy and Johns Hopkins University picked our peaceful barrier island for Operation Bumblebee, a top-secret program testing early supersonic ramjet missiles. They built the Assembly Building (now the wonderful Missiles and More Museum) and test-fired over 200 rockets right off a concrete launchpad by the ocean (which today happens to be a patio!). Those tall, mysterious concrete towers you see scattered along the island? Navy observation posts from a time when beach days came with a side of rocket science.

Who knew relaxing on the beach meant sitting right on top of aviation history? ✨

Have you ever visited the Missiles and More Museum or spotted one of the observation towers on your walk? Tell us below! 👇

The Topsail Beach dunes are absolutely alive with color right now! 🌊🌼 Three incredible native plants are working overtime to protect our coastline:
• Camphorw**d: Covering the sand in a sea of bright yellow, daisy-like blossoms.
• Blanket Flower: Adding beautiful pops of red and orange near the fence.
• Sea Oats: Standing tall in the background like coastal sentinels.
Cool fact: Together, this powerhouse trio acts as a natural shield! While the Sea Oats catch blowing sand to build the dunes up high, the low-growing Camphorw**d and Blanket Flower weave an underground web of roots to hold that sand tightly in place against heavy ocean winds. They are true coastal protectors! 🌾✨

Another coastal beauty thriving along Topsail Beach! 🌊 This cheerful yellow flower is Camphorw**d (Heterotheca subaxillaris), a hardy pioneer plant perfectly adapted to our sandy dunes.
Cool fact: Gently crush its leaves, and you'll notice a distinct, medicinal scent reminiscent of camphor! This strong aroma acts as a built-in defense mechanism to ward off hungry herbivores.
Like goldenrod, it loves the harsh beach sun and plays a vital role in stabilizing loose sand while providing late-season fuel for coastal pollinators. 🐝☀️

Spot a splash of bright yellow on Topsail Beach? 🌊 You’re likely looking at Seaside Goldenrod (Solidago sempervirens)!
Far from a w**d, this tough native wildflower acts as a natural anchor for our coastal dunes, holding the sand steady against strong ocean winds.
Cool fact: It’s a crucial refueling station, providing essential nectar for migrating Monarch butterflies and native bees. Plus, despite the old myths, its heavy pollen won't cause your fall allergies! 🦋✨

With Halloween just around the corner, island folklore gets a little extra cozy, and a tiny bit spooky, on our quiet stretch of sand.

If you’ve ever taken a sunset stroll along Topsail as dusk settles in, you might have heard whispers of "The Child on the Beach." Local legend tells of a little boy seen playing in the surf at twilight, building ghost sandcastles in the fading light. But as soon as curious folks draw near to check on him, he simply vanishes into the sea mist, leaving behind no footprints at all.

Now, around here, we’re simple, common-sense folk. We usually attribute strange sightings to sea spray, long shadows, or maybe just one too many afternoon coffees on the porch. But on a crisp October evening when the wind whistles through the oats... well, nature loves a good ghost story, doesn’t it? 🎃🌊

Do you love a good spooky beach legend, or do you stick strictly to sunny daytime walks? Tell us in the comments below! 👇

Summer has its charm, but October on Topsail Island? That’s where the real magic happens. 🌾☕

The beaches are quiet (no fighting for a spot on the sand), the air has that crisp autumn breeze that practically begs for a soft sweater, and our rooms are clean, fully furnished, and ready for you to unwind. Oh, and did we mention your four-legged best friend is an honored guest? Because around here, beach walkies are strictly a family affair. 🐾

What’s your idea of a perfect October evening by the sea: getting lost in a good book on the deck or a sunset stroll on the sand? Tell us in the comments! 👇

We’re located on a 300-yard-wide barrier island, and from our deck to the ocean sand, it’s exactly 72 feet. 🌅

✨ From there? Absolutely nothing between us and Europe.

How many steps are you currently sitting away from the ocean right now, and be honest, is it way too many? Tell us in the comments! 👇
