Stories in stone 🌀

These petroglyphs are at Picture Rocks, just 15 minutes from Camp Saguaro — and once you're there, it's only a few minutes' walk to stand right in front of them. The spiral, the dancers, the animals — carved into the desert varnish centuries ago by the Hohokam people, and still telling their stories today.

It's one of our favorite easy outings to send guests on. Stay with us and go see them for yourself. 🏜️

Fall migration is in full swing, and our desert skies are busy:

🦅 Swainson's hawks passing through in big flocks, riding the midday thermals south
🕊️ Turkey vultures kettling overhead
🐦 Yellow-rumped warblers and white-crowned sparrows arriving to stay all winter
🌺 Hummingbirds still buzzing — Anna's and Costa's live here year-round

Bring your binoculars, pour a cup of coffee, and watch the sky with us. Birdwatchers welcome!
