When things are busy, we oftentimes forget to take a moment to see how far we’ve come. Today marks a milestone: one year ago on this date, the Beck Family stayed the night in the hotel rooms for the first time. Mark Beck, hotel owner, is shown here celebrating this success in the grand hallway with a big thumbs up.

Our first stay was pleasant and gave us hope for everything to come. It also became the start of fine tuning features to add, fix, and amend. We recall that it was a quiet night in town. We woke up with the morning sun, grabbed a cup of Talia’s coffee, and discussed notes in the parlor rooms.

Looking back, we are proud of what we’ve built here and can’t believe we are coming up on one year of being open to the public. We could not have done any of this without our outstanding staff, whom we attribute many of our successes to. We still have more to come, but for today, this is a time to sit back and remember a great, long-awaited achievement.

To West Jefferson, Ashe County, and all our travelers beyond, thank you for your support. We feel happy to be a part of your story.

Everything on the menu will be inspired by local flavors and harvests. Chef and his team will gather ingredients in Ashe County in the days leading up to the dinner, in preparation for an unforgettable array of courses served to you. Other ingredients may come from local farms, gardens, and more.

West Jefferson is blooming! Lots of new buds, flowers, and friendly faces…plus, the weather could not be better. Ashe County springtime is really starting to show off. Bonus: the Farmers Market is reopened for the season! 🌱

Exciting news! Another new business joining downtown West Jefferson. WJ Sundries is OPEN!

We are happy to announce that West Jefferson Sundries is officially open for business! Located in the WJ Hotel’s iconic corner shop, we have begun our soft opening to the public with the following weekly hours:

Wednesday - Saturday 11:00AM - 3:00PM

WJ Sundries is a fast-casual local lunch spot. While we are beginning with a limited menu as we initially open, our location will ultimately offer:

•Full menu of fast to-go and sit down food featuring sandwiches & sides, salads, soups, pastries, desserts, beer & wine, sodas, and coffee
•Grocery-style section with premade items (i.e. chicken salads, pasta salads, breads, picnic style items, ice creams, and more)
•Hotel merchandise & other local products in our retail section
