🏆🌿 WE HAVE A WINNER! 🌿🏆

After five days of intense competition in the heart of the Greater Kruger, Sarah Barratt of Thornybush was crowned Safari Guide of the Year 2026!

Sarah impressed throughout the week, ultimately claiming top honours in the Guided Game Drive and Industry Ambassador & Professionalism categories on her way to the overall title.

A huge congratulations also goes to Otto Scribante of Singita, who was named Runner-Up, delivering an exceptional performance across multiple challenges.

In her acceptance speech, Sarah paid tribute to her fellow finalists, describing it as a privilege to compete alongside such talented and passionate guides.

As SGOTY celebrates its 15th year, this week's competition once again showcased the extraordinary skill, dedication and professionalism that define South Africa's guiding industry.

Congratulations to Sarah, Otto, fellow finalists Samantha Snodgrass, Patrick Kepe and Jordan Davidson, and everyone who made SGOTY 2026 such a memorable event.

Going down... 🐆

Female leopard Saseka was spotted in one of her favourite trees - a marula tree - before demonstrating just how gracefully and easily she can climb down!

Did you know leopards have a unique anatomy to help them climb? From their detached shoulder blades and flexible spine to their retractable claws and long tail to counter-balance their weight.... These big cats are just as at home in trees as on the ground!

It started with a leopard with a kill....and patience lead to THIS unbelievable moment!

First, a single hyena came sniffing around to investigate. Unfortunately, the leopard was unable to lift the kill up the tree in time and more hyena quickly came running. The leopard quickly darted to safety, relinquishing its prize.

Then, just as we thought it couldn't get any better, a pack of wild dogs showed up!! Soon, chaos reigned as the wild dogs were chittering, hyenas howling, and the mournful leopard looked on from above.

What an incredible sighting for our current special guests taking part in Safari Guide of the Year - the magic of the Klaserie and never knowing what might happen next!
