Key Duties and Responsibilities
Outdoor Patrols & Surveillance
• Conduct routine foot patrols around the hotel's perimeter, gardens, and parking lots.
• Monitor exterior and report any suspicious behavior, trespassing, or vulnerabilities.
• Deter theft, vandalism, and loitering around the hotel grounds.
Access & Parking Control
• Monitor entrance and exit points to ensure only registered guests and authorized staff enter the premises.
• Guide traffic, enforce parking policies, and ensure emergency vehicle lanes remain clear.
• Control access to restricted outdoor zones such as staff areas, loading bays, and swimming pool enclosures
Safety Hazard Mitigation
• Identify and resolve exterior safety hazards such as uneven pathways, loose railings, or poor lighting.
• Respond to outdoor incidents, ranging from medical emergencies to guest disputes or altercations in public areas.
• Assist with outdoor crowd control during high-occupancy events or emergencies.
Emergency Response & Reporting
• Act as an on-site first responder during severe weather events or evacuation scenarios.
• Keep detailed logs of daily patrols, incidents, and any maintenance issues found on the grounds.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement or emergency services if serious crimes or accidents occur on the property

Gardener – Maintenance Department

Diaz Hotel and Resort, Mossel Bay

Diaz Hotel and Resort is looking for a dedicated, hardworking, and physically fit Gardener to join our Maintenance Department. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the hotel’s beautiful gardens, lawns, and outdoor spaces to ensure an exceptional guest experience.

Key Responsibilities
Install, plant, and maintain seasonal flowers, shrubs, and trees across the property
Mow lawns, edge pathways, fertilize green spaces, and trim hedges and bushes
W**d, mulch, and water garden beds to promote healthy plant growth
Keep walkways, parking areas, and outdoor spaces neat and free of debris
Safely operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as lawnmowers, strimmers, and leaf blowers
Monitor plant health, identify pests or diseases, and apply treatments when necessary
Work independently and alongside the maintenance team to maintain high landscaping standards
Requirements
Proven experience as a gardener, preferably in the hospitality or estate industry
Good knowledge of local plant life, seasonal flowers, and pest control methods
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to safely use and maintain landscaping machinery
Strong attention to detail and pride in creating beautiful outdoor spaces
