There's a moment every winter when Sedgefield locals start glancing out at the ocean a little more often. It's whale season, and if you're staying at Baywater Village this July, you're in exactly the right spot to catch it. Southern right whales migrate along South Africa's southern coastline from around June through November, and the Garden Route is one of the best front-row seats in the country. No boat required, no binoculars needed (though they help), just a warm jacket, a decent coffee, and a bit of patience.
