As mentioned in Charles’ update, long-standing Half Moon customer and friend of the inn, Peter Inman, had a surprise while fishing our Salmon beat at Beam on the River Torridge. While fishing an area known as Sunken Tree, he landed a 4 lb Allis Shad. This unusual, accidental catch was photographed and safely released back into the water unharmed.

When he showed the photograph to our resident expert, Charles Innes, it was confirmed that the fish was a Shad—a protected species that is rarely seen in Southwest regional waters. This is an exciting discovery, especially as our anglers have already caught and released this season seven Torridge salmon, two sea trout, and many good-sized brown trout this year while fishing the Half Moon Inn beats.

Our resident expert Charles has been back down to the river to give his latest updates! We have had a fantastic week of fishing on the Torridge with lots of exciting catches as told by Charles, take a look! 🎣

Join us on Thursday 11th June as our new Chef Adrian showcases his skill with a Banquet Tasting Table!

All dishes are inspired by our local countryside and will be available in a taster menu style, similarly to our previous theme nights, however all courses will be served from a banquet table 🐟🍄‍🟫🌳

6:30 for 7:00pm sit down, £10 per person deposit required at time of booking

As a lot of you will already know, to change things up this Summer we are offering Grill Nights every Sunday evening! 🍔🍢🍕

Adrian will be firing up the BBQ and the Pizza oven every week 5-8pm cooking up delicious grilled foods.

Or…if you missed out on a Sunday Roast at lunch we will also have our Yorkshire Pudding wraps available alongside the Grill! Yorkshire Pudding Wraps can be pre-ordered in advance to avoid disappointment!
