I hate having to write posts like this. I have always prided myself on running a pub that is a safe and inclusive place for all based on a light touch and mutual respect. However, after an estimated £150+ of plants were destroyed, I feel I have to say something.
We love families coming to the pub and it’s great to see children playing safely, going on adventures and making new friends. Unfortunately, whilst the vast majority of children are well behaved, very occasionally, without adequate parental supervision, some cross the line into antisocial, dangerous or destructive behaviour. While we understand that it is impossible and impractical to supervise your children constantly whilst at the pub, we only ask that you are aware of what they are up to and obviously prevent any kind of undesirable behaviour.
Unfortunately, a group of children recently destroyed an estimated £150+ worth of plants by thrashing them with a tennis racket. Sadly, although an extreme example, it is not isolated. I have instructed staff to intervene if they witness undesirable behaviour in future. If, after an intervention, you still choose not to supervise your children and their behaviour doesn’t improve, then you will be refused service and asked to leave. In extreme cases, we reserve the right to ban repeat offenders.
All we ask is that you, and your family, respect us and our property and behave appropriately. I spend a lot of time and money making sure the pub, especially the garden, is presentable and inviting. Please help us to keep it that way. Thank you 🙏
