Almost 65 years after Gerald said “No more teas” on the steps of the Talbooth, Talbooth Restaurant is all set to become a tea room once more – but for six months only!

We’re 10 days away from launching our exciting Ch*****ne Afternoon Tea to celebrate 75 years of Milsom Hotels & Restaurants and we’re excited to show you this first look.

It’s been over a year in the making, with lots of research and testing of every detail - and we’re extremely proud of all the work that’s gone into creating this exceptional menu - now available to view online.

🎷🍸 Gin & Jazz brings another wonderful season of events in the marquee at Talbooth Restaurant to a close!

Returning for its second year, Gin & Jazz transforms our marquee into a setting reminiscent of famous jazz clubs, creating a wonderfully laid-back atmosphere for an evening of delicious dining, fabulous gin and chilled live music.

If you missed out this year, don’t worry! We’ll be back with more events in 2027, so make sure you’re signed up to our mailing list to be among the first to hear when tickets are released.

The Talbooth 75 Ch*****ne Afternoon Tea Tasting 🍰🥂

A busy and exciting morning for the team as we came together to taste, test and refine the first selection of dishes for our new Ch*****ne Afternoon Tea, launching this November for just six months.

Following our research earlier this year, our chefs prepared a wonderful selection of savoury bites, classic and open sandwiches, cakes and scones for us to sample, accompanied by Ch*****ne and a whole variety of teas.

And it wasn’t just about the food! From crockery and table settings to the finer details of service, there was plenty to discuss and decide.

Our chefs did an exceptional job, and with so much to choose from, not everything could make the final cut! But we’ve decided to keep things interesting, refreshing the menu throughout the six months that Afternoon Tea will be served in the Old Room, giving returning guests the opportunity to enjoy even more of our chefs’ creations.

Designed to be enjoyed with Ch*****ne, with sandwiches that make you say wow and cakes that delight the eyes as much as the tastebuds, we can’t wait to reveal our first menu very soon.

Available for a limited time only, from 2nd November 2026 to 30th April 2027, Monday to Saturday, with sittings between 3pm and 4.15pm.

Available for just six months, this will be a beautifully refined afternoon of exceptional food, Ch*****ne and Talbooth hospitality, served within the historic Old Room.

December is fast approaching, and we can’t wait to welcome guests back for our annual Taste of Talbooth tasting menu. ✨

Here’s a first look from our recent tasting, where we finalised the five-course menu and selected the wines to pair with each dish.

Make a night of it with our ultimate Christmas stay at Talbooth House & Spa, including spa access, a 25-minute treatment and a glass of ch*****ne before enjoying our five-course dinner. From £600 per room.

The menu is available for a limited time, from 30 November to 23 December, evenings only, excluding Saturdays. £90 per person, or £145 with paired wines.

“No teas served.” Those words once sat fixed to our Talbooth sign, after Gerald Milsom decided to stop serving afternoon teas following a decade in business and commit fully to making Le Talbooth a restaurant.

More than 60 years later, as part of our 75th anniversary celebrations, we’re preparing to serve tea here once again - with a limited-time Ch*****ne Afternoon Tea honouring where our story began... 🥂🫖🍰

Back in 1952, Gerald discovered a tearoom beside the River Stour, which he went on to run with his parents and sister Heather. It grew into the Talbooth Restaurant we know today. Our new afternoon tea celebrates those beginnings while offering something far beyond the teas served here in the 1950s.

The menu and its finishing touches are still taking shape, but research and planning are well underway. We’ve been exploring our archives, and members of our team have visited some of London’s leading afternoon teas, including The Goring, The Dorchester and The Berkeley, to gather inspiration for an experience that feels distinctly Talbooth and suitably grand.

Afternoon tea will be served in the Old Room and Bar, the two original parts of the building and the rooms where tea would once have been enjoyed. We have more details, and more stories from our past, to share with you soon.

The three-night stay from 24th–27th December includes a welcome hamper, dinner at Talbooth Restaurant on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day lunch at the Talbooth, with a choice of returning to us or dining at milsoms on Boxing Day.

Idle Waters sleeps up to four people, giving you a private riverside retreat with some of the best parts of Christmas taken care of.
