🤩 The fact that people choose to spend their hard earned money to stay at Hiddle Hut, a space that we have designed, honed and created with love, is never taken for granted by us.

💛 My mission is for each and every one of our guests to feel special, cared for and valued when they stay in our beautiful little corner of Northumberland.

☺️ An integral part of hosting is listening to guest feedback and actively engaging with guests to learn how we can improve their experience. So this year we have worked tirelessly developing the outside space, our cooking facilities and incorporating new technology to enrich our guest’s experience. So far, feedback has been resoundingly positive! Our sauna and cold plunge,sundowner space, the new outdoor kitchen, woodland cubby and the bedroom cinema screen have proved to be extremely popular with all of our guests!

🛌 True story- my great grandfather was sent by his fiancée and parents to the local auction house to buy a bed for him and his soon to be wife and returned with a long case grandfather clock! 😟 (Which now happily resides in Australia with my brother!) So it’s no surprise that I ended up bidding on this beautiful piece of Art that I stumbled across at an online auction instead of a dining table for a mythical dining room.🫠

💛 I instantly knew that this piece would be a fantastic addition to the Hiddle Hut Art collection and proceeded to register and put in a cheeky bid! Then forgot about it- until I received this email the following morning!

🗝️The Historical Event: The bold, red lettering stitched across the very bottom reads: “KING GEORGE RESTORED”.

👑The Context: In late 1788, King George III suffered a severe and alarming bout of mental and physical illness (now widely believed by historians to have been porphyria). By early 1789, he made a dramatic and unexpected recovery.
🥳 The King’s return to health triggered a massive wave of national celebration across Great Britain. It is incredibly rare and wonderful to see a political and cultural event documented directly on a schoolgirl’s embroidery sampler, proving how deeply public sentiment for the Crown extended into the domestic life of everyday families at that exact moment in time.
🪡 The fact that this fragile piece of artwork created by a young girl as part of her education has survived over 230 years makes it even more remarkable. And now it joins our collection of antiques and other amazing objet d’ar.

🥊 Autumn is the BEST time of the year and I will fight anyone who doesn’t agree! Bring it on!!!

🫠After melting all Summer I am so READY for thick socks, pulling on my Docs and a Chunky knitted sweater!
