The Dartmoor Inn is a very special place. You can come for lunch, dinner or why not make a night of it in one of our cosy bedrooms? Our restaurant is made up of a series of cosy, stylish dining rooms, each with its own identity and we endeavour to make your experience relaxed. The award-winning cooking is based on seasonal ingredients and much work has gone into forging links with local farmers an

d food artisans to ensure the best raw materials. The small bar has local ales and a log fire – of course – for those colder times. It serves pub classics, Dartmoor Inn style. The Inn’s 3 bedrooms are light, spacious and contemporary country in style. They’re all decorated with beautiful fabrics and furnished with antique and hand-painted furniture from England and France. The Dartmoor Inn at Lydford is situated on the western fringes of the Dartmoor
National Park; an area outstanding in its natural beauty and adjoining a national nature reserve and a site of special scientific interest for its wildlife and
geological value. Within walking distance of the Inn is the pretty village of Lydford with its 12th century
church, castle and the spectacular Lydford Gorge with its stunning ‘White Lady’ waterfall. Lydford is within a 20 minute drive of the historic market town of Tavistock and only
45 minutes from Exeter or Plymouth.

Just a quick reminder that we have taken the decision to close the kitchen for lunch service today to allow the kitchen to work at a good temperature and to prepare for our Wine Dinner this evening.

We will be open for drinks between 12pm - 2pm.

Many thanks for your understanding.

Due to the forecasted temperatures on Wednesday & Thursday this week, we are taking the following precautions to protect our Team & Guests at the Inn;

• We will be reducing our lunch service times on Wednesday & Thursday to finish with last booked tables at 2pm.

• We have advised our Front of House Team to dress suitably to working in hot temperatures and allowed discretion on our normal uniform.

• We will be adjusting our menu slightly for more heat friendly dishes for you to enjoy! 🥗but equally to try to reduce what equipment we are using in the kitchen to help our Chefs and back of house team. 👨🏻‍🍳

We provide every table with chilled bottled water on arrival already but we will ensure this is topped up for you and will have all windows and doors open to ensure ventilation through the Inn. This will include the Kitchen & Back of House Areas so there may be slightly more noise than usual.

Inside the Inn is generally cool thanks to being an old building with thick walls, but as you know, we are dog friendly and we would ask you to look after your dogs in these temperatures. We have plenty of dog bowls available and will provide a fresh water for them should they still be joining you 🐾

Our Wine Dinner on Thursday remains unaffected as looking at the forecast the weather looks to break from that evening.

Please email [email protected] for any further queries or questions.

We hope you all enjoy the sun, but stay safe!

We’ve been incredibly lucky to have had Betty with us over the last 6 weeks from the for her placement.

She started the first three weeks working with the Front of House and has had the last few weeks working with Jay Barker-Jones in the Kitchen.

It has been so lovely to see the next generation and future of our industry learning all aspects of hospitality – we are very pleased as well that Betty will be staying on and joining our team after we offered her a role moving forward alongside her next year of studies!
