The Rising Sun is an award winning 14th Century thatched smugglers inn, overlooking a tiny picturesque harbour and Lynmouth Bay.

A stunning cottage, six sea view rooms and six standard rooms. Awarded Best Destination Pub in Devon in the Muddy Awards 2024✨ Many years ago a wise person built an inn near the harbour in Lynmouth (original buildings are 14th century) and this has been called the Rising Sun for many years. Now the inn and the adjoining cottages, which once were homes for fishermen, now comprise the Rising Sun Hotel. The Rising Sun hotel has a wealth of crooked staircases, narrow passageways, sloping floors and low beams and is thought to have once been a smugglers inn. The hotel now has modern facilities but still retains all of its old world charm.

Never a dull moment in Lynmouth! 🚁⛵ One minute a helicopter is landing, the next a boat is being lifted out of the harbour. This little village always has something going on, and we love watching it all from our front row seat. 😄❤️

Lynmouth Harbour has stories to tell ⚓️ Long before the visitors came, these waters were busy with herring boats, sailing ships and, of course, a smuggler or two 🕯️ Today it’s one of the most peaceful spots in Devon, but every stone still holds a little bit of history ❤️✨

A little update from us at The Rising Sun! 🍂

🧠 Pub Quiz: Our brand new weekly quiz kicks off on Wednesday 28th October at 8pm, and runs every Wednesday after. £5 per person, teams of up to 6, prizes to be won, and all in aid of Lynton Juniors Football Club. ⚽ Get your team booked in!

🎃 Halloween: Spooky season is nearly here, and we’re getting into the spirit! 👻

🎄 Christmas Dinner: We still have availability for Christmas Day, but tables are filling up. £115 per person for a beautiful festive feast by the harbour (and a Christmas jumper competition!). 🎅
