💛 Your Last Chance to Stay at Glendon Bed & Breakfast
As we prepare to close the doors of Glendon Bed & Breakfast on 6 December, we’ve found ourselves reflecting on the many years we’ve spent welcoming guests to this beautiful Victorian home in Matlock. Glendon has been more than a place to stay — it has been a space filled with warmth, conversations, celebrations, and the quiet joy of helping people feel at home.

Over the years, we’ve shared breakfasts with travellers from all over the world, welcomed guests returning year after year, and watched friendships form around the dining table. We’ve loved every moment — the early morning chats, the laughter drifting from the lounge, the stories shared over coffee, and the privilege of being part of so many special occasions.

Now, with just a few weeks left, we want to offer something simple and sincere:

If you’ve ever thought about staying at Glendon — or hoped to return one day — this is your last chance.

There are still dates available in November and the first days of December before we close, and we would be truly delighted to welcome you for one final stay. Late autumn in Matlock is beautiful: crisp air, golden leaves, cosy cafés, festive lights beginning to appear, and peaceful walks right from the doorstep. Escape to Derbyshire this festive season with a visit to the enchanting Haddon Hall Mercatum Christmas Artisan Market — and combine it with a relaxing stay at Glendon Bed & Breakfast in Matlock.

We currently have limited November and early December availability:

• 11th & 12th November • 14th & 15th November • 22nd–25th November • 25th–29th November • 2nd & 3rd December

Mercatum is one of the region’s most atmospheric Christmas markets, and tickets often sell out quickly — so booking your visit ahead is always a wise idea, especially if you’re pairing it with a short break.

And while you’re here, Chatsworth’s Christmas Market will be in full swing, offering another magical festive experience. Chatsworth House itself is beautifully decorated this year with the theme of “The 12 Days of Christmas” — a spectacular display that’s well worth seeing.

And it would be lovely to welcome you to Glendon before we close our doors for the final time in early December.

A sign that Autumn is in full swing here in . I love spotting the fly agaric mushroom whilst walking in the local woodlands it evokes childhood memories of a school trip to a woodland and the teacher that was with us explaining the difference types of mushroom found. I have always loved nature and wonder at its hidden beauty and dangers!

Today I’ve been enjoying the White Peak Loop between Rowsley and Matlock, with the route running alongside the Peak Rail line and offering some absolutely gorgeous views across the Derbyshire countryside. 💚

It’s such a wonderful way to experience the Peak District — whether you’re out for a leisurely cycle, a gentle walk, or simply looking for a beautiful day in the great outdoors. Quiet paths, stunning scenery and plenty of opportunities to stop, take it all in and enjoy the landscape. 🥰

And while Glendon Guest House will be closing its doors in just two months, we’re delighted that there’s still a way for groups to enjoy a stay with us through our sister property, Derwent House, Derbyshire, England.
