Today is the 8th anniversary of our move to Newton Stewart and The Stables Guesthouse. It’s been an adventure!! We’re still hovering at 9.7/10 on booking.com , 4.9/5 trip advisor and 4.9/5 on google reviews. It is the visitors that make it such fun, and they seem to enjoy it too.

Two pieces of news from us at The Stables.

One very sad 😔.

Many people visiting the B&B over the summers up until last year may have had the pleasure of bumping into our cat Buttons, who loved to lie on the front step, in the sun, hoping to get into the B&B part of the house! The bit she wasn’t allowed into !!! Well a week ago she passed on, at the cat age of 89, we can’t complain but very sad all the same. 😢

Secondly, people at the B&B on a Monday or Friday morning may have been aware that I (Dane) would rush off after breakfast service to help the good people of Gatehouse of Fleet by fixing/servicing bikes at the “Wheels of Fleet” bike charity. Well after 6 years I have decided to leave that in the hands of other capable mechanics. 🚲

We get a lot of lovely reviews, but once in a while, one pops up that really helps boost morale when life is very busy !

Not sure what to make of the comments on this review! Certainly wouldn’t comply with all guest desires, but David’s were fine 🤣🤣🤣

Our guests staying over the last few days were lucky to see a pine marten yesterday at Glentrool. They had finished their lovely walk around Loch Trool and were sitting by the Visitor Centre.
