Joining us at Ballathie this September? Discover what’s happening across Perthshire during your stay.

September in Perthshire brings the first signs of autumn, traditional Scottish events and plenty of reasons to explore beyond the estate.

🐾 Sunday 6 September:
Paws at the Palace returns to Scone Palace, with dog displays, agility, activities, stalls and plenty for four-legged visitors and their owners to enjoy.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Saturday 12 September:
Pitlochry Highland Games brings together Highland dancing, piping, traditional heavy events and athletics for one of the final Highland Games of the season.

🚜 Saturday 12 - Sunday 13 September:
Farming Yesteryear & Vintage Rally takes over Scone Palace Parklands, with vintage tractors, steam engines, classic vehicles, Clydesdale horses and a celebration of Scotland’s agricultural heritage.

🏇 Wednesday 23 - Thursday 24 September:
Perth Racecourse brings its season to a close with the historic Glorious Finale - a fixture with more than four centuries of racing heritage behind it.

And closer to home? The changing colours, riverside walks, seasonal dining and peaceful Perthshire countryside make September a rather special time to stay at Ballathie.

Which event would make your September itinerary?

Five minutes. ⏰

Long enough to step outside before breakfast.
To follow the path towards the river.
To breathe in the morning air.
To notice how quiet the estate is.
To remember that your phone can wait.

You do not need to be an experienced walker or plan a full day outdoors to enjoy Ballathie’s surroundings.

When would you take your five minutes - first thing in the morning or after dinner?

🥾 There is no such thing as the wrong weather, only the wrong footwear.

A little Scottish drizzle doesn’t spoil a day at Ballathie.

It makes the woodland smell fresher, the River Tay appear moodier and returning indoors feel even better - particularly when there is a warm drink, a comfortable chair and nowhere else to be.
Bring the waterproof, pack the wellies and embrace the Scottish weather exactly as it arrives.

Sunshine is lovely, but muddy boots usually mean there is a better story to tell.

🦮 A good countryside escape should include every member of the family - especially the one waiting beside the lead.

As we think about when summer begins to soften into autumn, Ballathie’s grounds become made for unhurried walks, new scents, muddy paws and afternoons spent exploring beside the River Tay.

Dogs are welcome in almost every area of Ballathie, including the bar, with most of our accommodation also dog-friendly and designated spaces available for guests who would like to dine alongside their four-legged friend.

Tag the dog owner who would have the best time here.

How would you like to experience Scotland? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Is it the sound of the bagpipes carrying through the air? A morning beside the River Tay? Haggis, neeps and tatties, followed by a dram of wh**ky? Or a day spent golfing, fishing or wandering beneath the towering trees along Ballathie’s woodland walks?

At Ballathie, Scotland is found in the landscape, the food, the traditions and the small moments that make a stay feel memorable.

Tell us, what makes a Scottish escape feel special to you?

Some Sundays call for plans or some Sundays call for roast potatoes, rich gravy and a beautifully cooked lunch overlooking the River Tay… I know which one we’d prefer.

No overnight bag required. Simply arrive hungry, take your time and allow Sunday to feel like Sunday again.

Send this to someone who deserves a slow Sunday overlooking the River Tay.

The 12th of August - the beginning of another sporting season.

The Glorious Twelfth marks the opening of the grouse season and remains an important date within Scotland’s country sporting calendar.

At Ballathie, country life is part of the everyday - shaped by the landscape, the changing seasons and the traditions that bring guests to Perthshire.

It’s a chance to experience a more authentic side of Scotland.

Edinburgh in August is exhilarating, with the iconic edfringe bringing the city to life.

The shows, the crowds, the late nights and the feeling that something is happening around every corner.

But after the busyness, sometimes you need this - just a scenic drive away:

🌲 Trees instead of traffic
🌊 The River Tay instead of a packed pavement
🥩 A relaxed dinner, followed by a morning that begins quietly

After experiencing the energy of Edinburgh’s festivals, continue your Scottish journey into the Perthshire countryside and give yourself somewhere to properly exhale.

From city break to countryside escape - Scotland does both rather beautifully.🔗 Stay with us during your visit to the Fringe, book directly on our website.
