Love this 💕
Ladies, how would you customise your bike for slow riding?
Panniers that fold out into picnic rugs? Cool bags with compartments for scones, jam and clotted cream???
oh and please can we request a portaloo of some sort Tailfin 🤣🤣🤣
📢 Tailfin has built a bikepacking setup for slow riding.
The bag maker from Bristol, in southwest England, usually designs lighter, faster kit for ultra-endurance riders. For this one-off project, its prototyping team fitted a lugged steel Singular Peregrine touring bike with waxed-canvas bags built around the stops, not the distance.
There's a front bag for a film camera with a pocket for a paper map, an insulated pannier for cold beers and a picnic, and a separate bag for a small espresso maker. The team also packed a sketchbook, watercolors, a fishing rod, a camp chair, and a towel for wild swimming.
"I'd rather take the extra weight and have all the lovely things," said Molly, who reworked one pannier into a cool bag.
The idea came from photos of 1960s Japanese touring bikes, built in the French tradition of designing the frame, racks and bags as one system.
The bike isn't for sale, though Tailfin says some ideas may carry over into its range. It goes on show at Bespoked Osaka in Japan from October 23-25.
