Carl from La Nuova Apparelmaster & Linenmaster always arrives with a friendly face delivering our clean sheets and picking up the used sheets.

If you win our Garden Festival giveaway you'll be sleeping on their fresh clean sheets! (See the pinned post on our facebook or instagram page).

The sheets are cleaned locally at their laundry plant in Inglewood.

The clean sheets are delivered in clean linen bags. No plastic in sight which helps out sustainability efforts!

Destination Play at Kawaroa Park is on our bucket list this month!

There's plenty to do for kids of all ages and there's even a coffee cart on site for the adults!

Taranaki Gems feature them in their colouring book too.

Yesterday I washed out a stack of icecream containers collected from the Holiday Parks rubbish and recycling bins over the last few weeks. I searched on Facebook and found someone who was after ice cream containers.

She called in today and picked them up.

She didn't even know the holiday park was here in Fitzroy so I was able to show her around the park and all our units and facilities!

As a holiday park we are trying to find ways to improve what happens to the waste generated at our Holiday Park.

Recently we hosted a few high school sports teams at our Holiday Park for their annual winter sports tournament. Prior to their arrival we sent out an email inviting them to be a part of some of our initiatives and share them with their staff and students.

Thank you to the group who got on board with our initiatives and in particular utilised the green food scraps bins and separated their recycling.
How can we get the other groups to do better?
(We spent a lot of time sorting through rubbish and recycling bins and diverting as much as we could!)

Here are some of our initiatives:

We've joined Green Loop NZ to divert as much food waste as we can from landfill to be turned into soil to be used on Taranaki Farms.

Tetrapacks (mainly up and go cartons, milk drinks and juice boxes) are collected and dropped off to the The Junction Zero Waste Hub and sent to saveBOARD to be turned into building materials.

Paper bags are donated to a local food truck to be reused.

Clean egg cartons go to Down to Earth Organics

Lids are removed from recyclables and some are dropped off to The Junction Zero Waste Hub

Clean soft plastics are saved up and dropped to the supermarket collections.

Clean recycling gets collected fortnightly which includes plastics, glass, paper, cardboard and tins.

Gemma and I popped into Pukekura Park for a bit of walk around to see where the Coastal Five - Taranaki run is going to be. Couldn't resist checking out the playground too.
