Happy , campers!

This week, we're heading to the Hoosier State’s Land of 101 Lakes. This campground is a lakeside retreat, perfectly positioned off the longest road in the U.S. This is year-round camping at its finest, whether you're here to stay or just passing through.

🎃 Happy National Pumpkin Day! 🎃
Our pumpkins have a very important question for you...
What happens to your pumpkins after you bring them home?
🎃 Carve them into Jack O’ Lanterns
🥧 Cook or bake something pumpkin delicious
🌻 Roast the pumpkin seeds
🍂 Save them for decorating
🐿️ Repurpose them after Halloween for compost, wildlife, or something else
And we have to know...

While KOAs offer a consistent basecamp across North America, the landscapes surrounding them are entirely unique. Take, for instance, our northernmost and southernmost campgrounds.

It's time for , campers!

Combine prehistoric finds with all the benefits of modern camping at this week's KOA. Strategically located near Route 191, this campground is the perfect pit stop for Western road trippers.

The campground's variety of RV sites accommodates everyone, from the van lifers to the motorhome enthusiasts. Choose from pull-thru, back-in, or KOA Patio sites and spend less time setting up and more time relaxing. No RV? No problem. Stay in a ultra-comfy Deluxe Cabin or a classic tent site.

The area is known for its abundance of dino finds. Under 20 miles away is Dinosaur National Monument, where you can see over 1,500 fossils on exposed cliff face. Other state parks in the area provide boating and fishing with views of dinosaur tracks along the way. After you've channeled your inner paleontologist, camp is a welcome respite. Challenge your fellow campers to a game of horseshoes or giant jenga, cool off in the pool, or take in a movie under the stars.

Halloween weekend is almost here.
Family Halloween at Living History Farms runs October 23–25 and offers a fun alternative to traditional Halloween activities.
Kids can trick or treat through historic Walnut Hill, enjoy games and crafts, see demonstrations and experience a twilight horse drawn wagon ride.
If you are camping at Des Moines West KOA Holiday this weekend, add Living History Farms to your Halloween plans and make a whole weekend of it.

As we look back on another camping season at Des Moines West KOA, we just want to say thank you to everyone who stayed with us this year.
Thank you for the campfires, the laughs, the family time, the celebrations, the Halloween fun, and all the memories made around the campground. We’re grateful you chose to spend part of your camping season with us.
And while our activities are taking a winter break, Des Moines West KOA is open year round for camping. Whether you’re passing through or planning a winter getaway, you can still make Des Moines West KOA part of your travels.
